Van Vleck Elementary School was originally constructed in 1972. A facility assessment completed by architects and engineers show significant repairs needed. Example needs include, but are not limited to, roof leaks throughout the building, rusted exterior doors, classroom sound issues (caused by lack of doors or wall partitions), building sanitary sewer lines are beyond life expectancy, and moisture issues in the foundation slab. E. Rudd Intermediate school was originally constructed in 1939. The facility assessment shows a significantly outdated facility, with needs including asbestos in current VCT flooring and ceiling tiles, water lines beyond life expectancy, non-compliant accessibility items, and outdated electrical panels.
